Nelly Lam

Nelly Lam is an experienced knowledge transfer professional and is currently Assistant Director at the Institute for Innovation, Translation and Policy Research, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) where she oversees global strategic alliance and promotion in health and food, art technology, and various transdisciplinary endeavours.

Before joining HKBU, Nelly advanced innovation and technology development at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University where she facilitated the establishment of collaborative platforms, promoting global, multidisciplinary partnerships across academia, and the private and public sectors. Prior to her role in higher education, she focused on corporate development at a biotech startup and managed major projects at a biotechnology association. Currently, Nelly serves as a board member for charitable organizations including the Food Safety Consortium, an NGO Observer to the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius, which aims to address unmet food safety needs through innovation; and Toolbox Percussion, an organization dedicated to advancing contemporary percussive arts in Hong Kong. Additionally, she is the founder and director of A.I. Safe Food Limited, an HKBU startup committed to enhancing food supply safety using AI and machine learning for non-targeted contaminant detection in food commodities.

Nelly received her B.S. in Biochemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles, and M.Sc. in Corporate Governance and Professional Accounting at the City University of Hong Kong. She is a Chartered Secretary and Chartered Governance Professional of The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute and The Chartered Governance Institute, UK.
